There is a large industry of companies and consultants charging extraordinary fees to get you in front of coaches - when in reality, many people successfully navigate this process themselves.  

If you’ve come this far, you’ve already spent countless hours training, driving, practicing and playing. Why would you leave such an important part of this process in the hands of anyone else but you. 

Remember, Coaches are “looking” and recruiting is a critical part of their job. 

It really is simple - coaches want students who are capable of competing in their sport at the appropriate level, who demonstrate the ability to balance the demands of being an athlete with success in the classroom and who demonstrate strong character. 

These are things that you can do yourself - nobody can tell your story better than you can.

The athlete should ALWAYS be the one contacting a college coach  - not the parent, not a coach and certainly, never, a 3rd party service or “representative”. 

Reaching out to a coach directly is the single best way for a coach to know you are serious and also that an athlete takes ownership over things that are important to them. 

Most coaches receive hundreds of emails every season from prospective athletes. T there is no better way to reduce the number of emails and videos a coach has to review than to use an athlete’s initial email as an indicator to determine if this is a person that they’d want on their team.

If mom or dad is the one emailing a coach will question just how independent the athlete is? Did the athlete do any research on the school or is the email a copied and pasted draft sent to dozens of other coaches? Did the athlete spell check their work?

Most Importantly - Did the athlete include the information that a coach needs?

In addition to a brief description of yourself and why you are interested in specific school and athlete program being contacted.

It also is important to include a highlight video.We recommend including a resume with information such as academic details & sport specific information,
